Mai Hem is an innovative people-driven photographer & artist based in the UK.
Mai Hem is a UK-based photographer, videographer, and visual artist with over 15 years of experience creating compelling visual narratives that connect people, places, and purpose. Her multidisciplinary work spans live music, theatre, events, portraiture, weddings, branding, and community-focused projects.
With a First-Class Honours BA in Photography from the University of Greater Manchester and a BSc in Psychology from the University of Central Lancashire, Mai brings a unique blend of artistic vision, technical expertise, and psychological insight to every project. Her creative practice is rooted in human connection, contemporary visual culture, and a deep understanding of audience and storytelling.
Mai’s portfolio includes commissions for BBC Radio One, North Brewing Co., Waterside Arts, and Bolton Pride, as well as featured work in group exhibitions and publications such as FRAGMENTS OF SELF, RÉFLEXIONS, and LINT & LENS. She has also led and contributed to several public-facing projects, including documentary filmmaking, magazine design, and exhibition curation.
In addition to her creative work, Mai has held roles in tutoring, content strategy, social media, and public sector administration — experiences that have shaped her values of reliability, adaptability, and clear communication.
She is currently open to commissions, collaborations, and creative opportunities across the UK and internationally, working with individuals, communities, and organisations to craft visuals that inform, inspire, and connect.
